Title — Assistant Professor of Arabic

Background

Summer Loomis, assistant professor of Arabic, completed her dissertation in Arabic Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She earned her master's degree in foreign language pedagogy and Arabic from the University of Washington in Seattle.  Prior to joining the faculty at GW, she taught English as a foreign language in Japan, and Arabic at the University of Washington and the University of Texas at Austin.  Her broad research interests include language assessment, foreign language education, and advanced learners.  She has lived and studied in France, Japan, Egypt, Syria, and Jordan, and is also a graduate of Oberlin College where her interest in Arabic and the Middle East began.
