The Department of History expects all applicants to its graduate program to submit their applications online through the Graduate Admissions Office of the Columbian College. This does not include academic transcripts and GRE scores, which candidates must mail directly to the Columbian College prior to the application deadline.. Applications will not be considered complete until all materials have been received.

Fall admission to the PhD program: January 2.
Fall admission to the MA program: April 1.
Spring admission to the MA program: October 1.
International applicants are required to submit additional materials before their applications may be considered. For more information, please consult the Graduate Admissions Office.
GRE code: Applicants should use 5246, the code for GW's Columbian College of Arts & Sciences. The History Department does not have a separate code.
