King James & the Serfs of Swing

Directed by James Levy, the Jazz Band (aka "King James and the Serfs of Swing") is a 12-piece band with vocalist specializing in the 1920s-40s styles of Count Basie and Duke Ellington.

Instrumentation is 4 saxophones, 4 brass and rhythm section. Blues and basic Jazz forms are emphasized. Horn players learn to create background "riffs" behind improvising soloists. The group performs up to six concerts a year.
