Theoretical Biophysics Research
The theoretical biophysics & condensed-matter group currently consists of faculty members Chen Zeng and Weiqun Peng, postdoctoral research associate Naigong Zhang and graduate students Ahmed Taha and Caiyi Lang.
Current research projects:
- Chen Zeng's researhc concentrates on computational statistical physics and computational molecular biology in the area of protein structures and design.
- Weiqun Peng's research focuses on theoretical and computational study of evolutionary processes, evolutionary aspects of gene regulation and bioinformatics.
- Current research projects focus on applications of novel combinatorial optimization algorithms in disordered systems and side-chain optimization problems of given protein backbones. Some of the current projects on protein design are being carried out in close collaborations with our colleagues in NEC Research Institute.
