Background
Professor Stoker's research and teaching interests are in the field of public policy. His first book, Reluctant Partners, analyzed the difficulties of policy implementation in a context of diffuse authority. His second book, When Work is not Enough, focused on policies and programs to assist low-income working families. His current research focuses on urban revitalization. He is presently completing a book on the Empowerment Zone program and participating in a cross-national study of neighborhood revitalization initiatives. Stoker regularly teaches courses relating to policy analysis methods and the politics of the policy making process. He occasionally teaches undergraduate courses relating to social policy problems.
