75th Year Celebration

Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Department of Statistics, GWU

The Department of Statistics at the George Washington University held a Statistics Symposium on Saturday, September 25, 2010 to celebrate its 75th Anniversary.

The conference highlighted a variety of theoretical and applied statistical research. The event also brought together the alumni and friends of the department.

This is the first department of statistics in a college of arts and sciences in USA, which was founded in 1935 with Dr. Frank Weida as Chair.


Statistics Turns 75!

The Department of Statistics turned 75 in October 2010. Founded in 1935, the department was one of the first of its kind in the country, and its alumni represent some of the top statisticians in the field.  Photo Gallery.
